I like the dialog even if at times i wished the characters would just get on with it. I like his unapologetic love for natre. I read the leather stocking series years ago and am re enjoying it now.Product details

Because Cooper is great, those who enjoy reading his works (primarily his novels) will want to obtain as many of them as possible. Perhaps they will seek a supposedly "complete novels" edition like this to get them all at one time in a single download. I say "supposedly" with regard to this edition because, though it claims to provide all his novels, it really doesn't. It is missing THE WAYS OF THE HOUR. This anti-feminist courtroom drama is admittedly not a particularly good novel, but it is a significant one, inasmuch as it was the very last one he wrote. I find it odd that it should be missing from this bundle of them (especially since it IS in the public domain); I suspect it was simply overlooked.
Happily, that book will be found in Delphi's complete JFC set. In addition to that novel, Delphi provides other works of fiction, some nonfiction, introductions, illustrations, biographies, and criticisms this one does not. And because it costs as much (or at times, LESS) than this one, I would recommend it in lieu of this one to all JFC fans.
Though this set is not truly complete, I have still rated it 5-stars because of my high regard for JFC and for the huge number of his novels it DOES provide (but I was sorely tempted to reduce it by one-star because of its incorrect claim).
ADDENDUM Since I wrote the above, e-artnow and Musaicum have both published $.99 JFC sets virtually identical to this one.
I think reading the classic writers like cooper is great and his books are ones that I find very soothing to read in the quiet and thoughtful time of the evening. It continues to show me what I could not sit still for in school. Love the books.
