From an early age Westcott questions and painfully examines his identity on every level.
Westcott is 22 when he first meets Regn (pronounced Wren), a German expat who is married. After a tenacious pursuit they fall in love. Set in the quaint college town between two rivers, Williamsburg, VA, and the historical site of Jamestown Settlement, the preservation of Time within a museum profoundly echoes Westcott and Regn’s ageless love.

Westcott holds a secret. Intrigued by his excruciating reserve and gentle grace, Regn seeks the mystery behind his private exterior. This extraordinary bildungsroman—a baptism by fire about a young man’s love affairs—is more than it appears. WHKH presents an argument for what matters most at the end of the day. The ability to show affection—to be present—the recognition of one’s self through another, is supreme. As Regn discovers who he is, Westcott must come to terms with the price of his decisions. In loving him, Regn is confronted with a choice no woman should have to make.
As an INFJ (Introvert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging)—the rarest of the sixteen personality types according to the Myers-Briggs Typology Test, Westcott’s character is enigmatic and beckoning. Unbeknownst to Regn, he is neither woman nor man, having undergone surgery at the innocent age of twenty. The reader feels an ever increasing need for answers, resolution, and closure that becomes a reflection of the longing and determination felt by the narrator, Westcott. This mirrored tension makes WHKH authentic and intimate allowing for the emotions of the reader to parallel those of the protagonist.

Transcending age and gender, WHKH raises the question Must one live the quiet, conventional life, or is it reasonable— possible—to persist in a richer state of being?

Patience is a virtue that we cannot sprint after and tackle into submission. Replete with dichotomies and the ironies of love, WHKH depicts a life rich in the search for meaning. The story may appear long, but such is an illusion. The author captivates with a voice that transports readers to a place outside of Time. Boundaries are crossed.
